TreeTop Retreat Reviews

Treetop Retreat near Acadia National Park

Sonam, MA, Oct 2017

This was our second time staying with Nola and her husband at the Treetop Retreat, and it was such a treat being their first return guests. It was wonderful to catch up on the happenings of our lives since out last visit in September 2016. Again, they were very attentive during our stay going as far as helping us to pick some day hikes as they did the last time, and responding quickly when we had questions about the apartment. The apartment was very clean, well-stocked and as beautiful as we remembered it. Since our last visit, they have made some wonderful additions, showing that they truly listen to guest feedback. We enjoyed this trip as much as the last, and look forward to returning again next year. We loved staying with you again, and loved the upgrades since the last time... and can't wait for the next time!

Mike, NH, Oct 2017

Fantastic place to stay, couldn't ask for nicer people. Location was great, very quiet neighborhood. Apartment itself was very cozy, very comfortable. Highly recommended! Thank you so much for hosting us; we had a fantastic time. Nice spot you have!

Aaron, IL, Oct 2017

Nola’s place is strategically located in SW harbor and makes it easy to enjoy everything MDI has to offer. Thank you for being a great host; the blueberry muffins were excellent!

Brian, MD, Oct 2017

Absolutely loved our time at Nola's place! BBQ, fire pit, wood decks, hot showers with great water pressure, very comfy bed, guest pass on Netflix, speedy Wi-Fi, local maps and tips, and she even made muffins for us! Will definitely be staying here again next time we are in Acadia!

Jeremy, MD, Oct 2017

We had a great stay here. Nola and her husband were very kind and knowledgeable of the surrounding area and Acadia. It is close to the park and the grocery store is close by. The apartment is neat and clean and was nice to come back to after 2 busy days in the park. There are plenty of info brochures at your disposal here too for the park and local area. Nicely stocked kitchen for cooking meals, a grill, and a deck outside, and deck looking out into the trees. If we are in the area, we would certainly come back. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Heather, NC, Oct 2017

This was by far the BEST vacation rental we have EVER stayed in! Highly recommend! Every detail was thoughtful and it is evident that Nola and her husband do this because they love it. There was a beautiful deck with a fire pit and grill so we could enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and fresh air. The place was extremely clean and comfortable. Nola even made us fresh blueberry muffins and they included butter, cream, coffee and OJ to get us started until we were able to get out to the store. I cannot say enough about this place. Loved it! Such a great way to end our trip! Thank you again for such a lovely stay!! We hope to see you in the future! Let us know if you ever come to NC, would love to show you around our home! :)

Debbie, CA, Sep 2017

Nola's place far exceeds how she describes it. The kitchen is first rate with everything you need to cook great meals. Her blueberry muffins are delicious! Apple TV, brochures for all the activities in the area, and any toiletries you may have forgotten are supplied. Plenty of towels and pillows and just enough space for my husband and I to enjoy as a home base for Acadia and Mount Desert Island. They greeted us and explained everything we needed to know for a wonderful, amazing stay. Thank you for the hospitality and all the wonderful, thoughtful touches!

Kurt, WI, Sep 2017

We truly enjoyed our stay. Nola and her husband thought of everything to make our visit feel like home. They were very helpful in planning our visit to Acadia. The blueberry muffins that Nola baked for us were excellent. The accommodations were clean, private, quiet and immaculately well kept. Our only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer. We will be back. Staying at their place was like being at home. They thought of everything. The blueberry muffins were delicious. I also want to thank her husband for his advice about Acadia. We only had one day and he helped us make the most of it. Their thoughtfulness was appreciated. Kurt and Gail

Debra, CA, Sep 2017

Perfect place to stay while exploring Acadia, thank you - loved the muffins!

Ian & Vicki, England Sep 2017

This place is just amazing!!! Don't worry that it is not in Bar Harbor, we think it's all the better for being on the quiet side. Nothing is very far away, and the tranquility is worth the short drive into the main part of Acadia National Park. The apartment is wonderfully kitted out [British speak for providing all the personal effects and necessities needed!] with everything you could need. We were overwhelmed with the welcome pack of milk, juice, butter, all the toiletries you could need (should you happen to leave something at home like I did with my toothbrush!) and most importantly Nola's homemade blueberry muffins - just delicious. Her husband was on hand to give us the best tips of where to go, what to see, where to eat and drink. We followed his advice and just had the best time in the park and on the quiet side of the island. We walked down into Southwest Harbor for a meal at Eat-a-Pita/Cafe 2, which is much grander than the name suggests. We had a fantastic meal, the best so far on this trip which included NYC and Boston, and luckily for us happened to be there on a Sunday when all wine is half price! The apartment is lovely and quiet and you really feel like you are in treetops. It is so well kitted out that you feel right at home. Nola and her husband's generosity and warm spirit meant we were very happy to spend time with them sharing tales from across the pond. We wish we had booked a couple of weeks there as Acadia has so much to offer and this apartment makes such a perfect base from which to explore the island. We cannot recommend this place enough. It's vacation rental done right! What can we add to what we have already said. We love your place!! Thank you for your great hospitality and warmth. We really felt at home and didn't want to leave. We were saying as we drove away that Acadia and your place has now spoilt us for all other vacation rentals.

Jan, DE, Sep 2017

This is a beautifully built, compact apartment in a quiet and peaceful, yet convenient location on Southwest Harbor, Maine. The owners are there if you need anything but did not intrude. The fresh muffins were amazing! We loved staying at your place! A wonderfully designed space and convenient location. I'm glad we stayed five days, although a I got confused and thought it was only four!

Chris, VA, Sep 2017

This was the nicest place we have stayed in many years of coming to Acadia. Nola and her husband were great hosts. The place is even nicer than shown on the web site. Plenty of room, many nice amenities, well equipped kitchen, & the bed is very comfortable. Side entrance & rear porch give nice privacy & seclusion. It is also a very convenient location on the island. We will definitely go back. Thanks again for being great hosts. We really like your place, it worked out as good for us as the weather we had. Chris & Vickie

Leigh, MD, Sep 2017

Nola's place is perfect, and by far my favorite vacation rental I've been to!! It was clean, had everything from clean towels and shampoo and access to a large lobster pot! She and her husband were very accommodating and communication between them never lacked! Oh and on top of that her blueberry muffins and maple syrup were amazing! The location was tucked away but in between all of the hotspots for Acadia and Bar Harbor. Her suggestions were great as well! We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit Maine! You won't regret your decision to stay here!!

Thank you so much for the great stay!

Amber, NY, Sep 2017

Nola’s place is now one of my favorite vacation rentals! Beautiful space, location, and hosts. Has everything you need and is close to Acadia! Nola - thank you so much! Your place is beautiful and the muffins were amazing!

Jonathan, NY, Sep 2017

This is one of our favorite vacation rentals of all time. Nola and her husband made sure that we had everything we needed, including great recommendations for local spots. She also had blueberry muffins upon arrival that were delicious. The property is exactly as seen in the photos, or maybe even a little bit better. The location was easy to find and close to town. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

Chris, MI, Aug 2017

Nola’s place was more than we could've asked for. They had everything we needed and exceeded our expectations. Her husband greeted us and showed us where everything was located in the apartment, and he filled us in on his favorite places to eat in town. The apartment was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and they even provided you with toiletries in case you forgot something at home. The only downside was that we didn't stay there long enough. We will definitely be back! The muffins were delicious! Your hospitality was impeccable. Your husband was super sweet and helpful.

Denise, Switzerland Aug 2017

This accommodation was absolutely perfect. We had our own porch with a grill, a great kitchen with everything we needed and the apartment was clean and well equipped. Great location, just a few minutes from the Acadia N.P. Thank you so much for your hospitality, everything was perfect and we really enjoyed our first vacation rental experience. Best regards from Fundy N.P. Denise and Marcel

Robert, ME, Aug 2017

Immaculately kept and adorably appointed. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a "quietside" getaway. Nola's blueberry muffins were icing on the cake! Lovely place. Thanks for everything!

Alison, NH, Aug 2017

Nola and her husband are wonderful hosts. They provide most everything you would ever need to make your stay memorable. The apartment is clean, private, and comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. The whole area is beautiful and the town of Southwest Harbor is wonderful. Thank you for everything. We had a wonderful stay! My only suggestion, which I do not mean as a criticism at all, is that I wish you used fragrance free detergent. I am allergic to fragrance and the smell on the sheets and the towels bothered me. Since I have this issue, I know that others do too, so it might help with other guests, but as I said, it’s not a criticism, as lots of people don’t have this issue!

Thanks, Alison! A good suggestion indeed. In the future, we will attempt to ask guests if they have any allergies to fragrances, so we can keep it in mind, when we do up their room.

Daniel, MA, Aug 2017

Nola and her husband were excellent hosts -- even before we ate the incredible muffins she baked for us -- and were always available, but also perfectly invisible, when my wife and I were relaxing. The place was immaculately clean with all the amenities you could need. It was the perfect little hub of operations for our visit to Southwest Harbor as we bounced between events and activities nearby. We would definitely stay again. Nola even passed along her now not-so-secret muffin recipe on our way out. So sweet!

David, PA, Aug 2017

The owners were very accommodating and accessible. The property was neat, clean and well cared for. Many personal touches - including fresh blueberry muffins and coffee - helped make our stay very enjoyable! Thanks for the great accommodations. We enjoyed ourselves and appreciated all of your personal touches - muffins were delicious and I love having coffee available first thing in the morning!

Sawako, Japan, Aug 2017

Nola and her husband are great hosts. They explained the space very kindly. The local restaurant they recommended to us was awesome! Also, the blueberry muffins Nola baked for us were wonderful! The dining and living room are large, clean and comfortable. We didn't want to leave. Thanks a lot!

Caroline, PA, Aug 2017

We couldn't have been happier with this place! Nola and her husband were absolutely wonderful in helping us get settled and the place was perfect for what we needed. It was only a short drive from the quaint town of Southwest Harbor, farther from the (relative) bustle of Bar Harbor, but still only about a 25-minute drive. We definitely recommend staying here. Thank you so much, Nola for your hospitality. We absolutely loved your place and if we're ever up your way again would definitely stay again. Take care!

Becky, OH, Aug 2017

Nola and her husband are truly special hosts...very kind/welcoming, informative/communicative, helpful, and thoughtful...just the epitome of warm hospitality!!! Their Suite is very welcoming and comfortable as well! It was extremely clean, very well stocked with all the necessities and much, much more, very thoughtful touches/decor throughout...and even some very nice surprises!! I could go on and on about what a wonderful experience we had there...oh, and the location was perfect too! We will definitely stay there again if we are lucky enough to return the area. Thank you both again! We truly enjoyed meeting you both! You were so kind, accommodating, helpful, and thoughtful! Your recommendations were very helpful...I think we were able to hit all of them!! Loved your suite and your blueberry muffins 🤗 If we are fortunate enough to visit that area again, we would definitely stay at your place again...thank you again for your warm hospitality!

Michael, NY, Aug 2017

A wonderful stay in an immaculately clean apartment with all the amenities one would need. If you want a nice quiet place just a short (less than a 5 minute) drive to downtown Southwest Harbor this is the place for you. We were very glad we stayed on the "quiet side" of MDI. Thanks for a great location for our Acadia trip. Our suggestion would be to place a water filter pitcher in the refrigerator so guests can filter out the chlorine taste from the water. “With all the fees and taxes, it was a bit pricey.”

Thank you, Michael for the suggestions. Our water comes out of one of the purest lakes in Maine, but when the government forced the town to treat it, but you are correct that we do get that extra hit of chlorine a couple times a year. We will most likely make the improvement of having bottled water available next season. Unfortunately, Maine’s occupancy taxes are pricey, and I do wish we could do something about that!

Adam, MA, Aug 2017

Nola was a great host. She and her husband were very accommodating for out of towners, who were new to the area. They provided a ton of literature (maps, recommendations, etc.). The apartment was super clean, very well done, and had all the right amenities for a lovely weekend away! Thank you so much. The muffins were amazing and the list of recommendations were really helpful. Everything was very clean and check-in was easy. Thanks for being a great host!

Margot, Netherlands, July 2017

We really loved our stay at Nola's. Everything is spotless and the apartment has everything you need. Everything is of good quality: the pots and pans, the bed, the shower etc. Nola also provides little extra's, such as towels for the beach, a toothbrush, maps with hiking trails and such a like. Nola also baked us blueberry muffins and we just loved them. And they gave us good tips about where to eat and what to see. We recommend staying at Nola's! Thanks Nola, we really loved our stay at your apartment. You are great hosts and everything is really clean and of good quality. “The only thing lacking was a view. But we also liked being 'hidden' in the trees!”

Marsha, MO, Jul 2017

Very nice place to stay. Convenient location. Many of the nice extra accommodations that you get with vacation rental places. The blueberry muffins and little basket of things you may have forgotten--top notch! Very clean also! Thank you so much. Nice to meet you and stay at your place. You had so many nice accommodations the only ones that would be nice is a luggage rack. That is just knit picky and convenience problem 😊 Thanks

Thanks, Marsha! Your comment was not “knit picky,” so we included two luggage racks in both the apartment and the suite! Great suggestion!

Hannah, NH, Jul 2017

Such a perfect place to stay on the quietside! We will definitely be back!!

Thomas, NY, Jul 2017

My wife and I had a wedding at the Causeway club which is about 3 minutes from Nola's place. Nola and her husband greeted us upon arrival and were very easy to contact prior to reaching the house. They were incredibly sweet and accommodating, and showed us our living space and all the ins and outs. Nola even made us blueberry muffins which were amazing! The apartment was charming and comfortable equipped with a lot of information for sight-seeing in Acadia National Park. Would definitely recommend it. It’s only 20-25 minutes to Bar Harbor, and maybe 5 to the main strip in Southwest Harbor. Thank you so much Nola! You and your husband were amazing hosts with so much knowledge of the area. Thank you for being so kind.

Derek, MI, Jul 2015

Nola's place was phenomenal! Foremost, their place was just the right size for my wife and I. With separate bedroom and living/kitchen areas (all beautifully done/decorated), it gave us room to spread out, even in a seemingly small space. They live on a very quiet street, but it is still close to Southwest Harbor - the "Quiet side" - and a beautiful 20 minute-ish drive into Bar Harbor. Nola and her husband were very helpful, both in person, and with all of the maps and guides about the area. We could not ask for a better trip to Maine and Acadia! Our stay at your place was amazing! I know that we didn't speak much, but it was comforting knowing you were willing, if we had any questions. The blueberry muffins were literally a warm welcome, and it truly showed how much you cared that we enjoyed our stay. Thank you again.

Theresa, OH, Jul 2017

Very clean and had information on area places to check out. Thanks! Everything was great!

Teresa, MA, Jul 2017

Great apartment and had a wonderful stay on the Quietside of the island. Unfortunately, we only got to meet our hosts as we were leaving, but we still got great instructions and had clear communication with them throughout the weekend. Nola's blueberry muffins were delicious and their kitchen and bathroom had all the essentials stocked in case you forget anything. The apartment itself was incredibly clean when we arrived and spacious for a weekend getaway for a couple. Location is close enough to all the attractions in Acadia and Bar Harbor and we had no problem driving around the island. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here and I hope to stay again when I revisit Maine. Thank you guys so much for everything!! Everything was so clean and clear. You had the perfect number of things in the bathroom and kitchen for us, since we forgot a few essentials.

Melissa, NC, Jul 2017

Great, quiet, and well-equipped place that is convenient to several of the Acadia attractions. Nola and her husband were awesome hosts, responsive and knowledgeable about the area and had plenty of privacy too. We had a lovely stay, thanks for being so responsive and thinking of every little thing we might need!

Kendall, VA, Jun 2017

Nola and her husband were very friendly and helpful hosts! They knew the area very well and were able to give us suggestions and offer information. They weren't pushy and made a point to give us our space. The apartment was spotless, and very organized! The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cooking ware, and many varieties of coffee. There were spare toiletries in the bathroom in case we forgot any, and they washed our towels partway through the week, even providing "beach" towels to take out on excursions. The apartment is separate from the house, and above the garage, which gave us the privacy and retreat that we wanted on our honeymoon. The area is beautiful and we spent most of our days driving into Acadia National Park, hiking, renting bikes for the carriage roads, or wandering around nearby towns. We loved the Quietside Cafe in Southwest Harbor - delicious ice cream and blueberry pie! Our stay here was wonderful and we would definitely stay again. Thank you for hosting us! Your blueberry muffins were delicious -- any chance you'd share the recipe? The apartment was very clean, well taken care of, and stocked with everything that we could have wanted. At times, we found the stairs leading up to the apartment to be a little slippery/steep (maybe mention this at check-in when showing guests up?). The toiletries in the bathroom were such a thoughtful touch! We used the laundry detergent by the way. Another one that would be helpful would be contact solution. The towels were great and it was nice to have clean ones halfway through the week. Your maps and books were also helpful. We found everything that we needed in the kitchen, it was well stocked. One thing that would be nice would be paper coffee cups w/lids for coffee on the go some days! We forgot to bring our travel mugs. Thank you for being such generous and gracious hosts! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Acadia. Your Treetop Retreat was a wonderful place to relax and get away from everyday life for a little bit.

“A little bit farther from the park but that also has its perks, especially in being quieter, calmer, and less crowded.”

Kendall, thank you for the suggestions. It’s true that when it rains, the stairs can get a little slippery, so we were able to find some nice, rubber ornamental treads that the guests have found to be helpful. The inclusion of paper coffee cups w/lids has also been a hit, so thank you for both of those ideas. We have also included some contact solution for future guests.

Savvas, NJ, Jun 2017

This is a wonderful place to stay. Nola and her husband are incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the place is just as described!

Nick, TN, Jun 2017

Great place! Clean, quiet, and secluded. The perfect place for an Acadia get away.

Giselle, MN, Jun 2017

The apartment has everything you'll need for a beautiful, quiet stay and very helpful hosts. If there wasn't something in the kitchen, we asked and it was delivered right away. The location is on a quiet street and it you feel like you're on your own. We enjoyed our stay at your lovely apartment, so quiet and great tips on enjoying the area.

Amy, CA, Jun 2017

We absolutely loved staying here. The place was perfect! Nola and her husband were ready for us when we arrived. They showed us around, and made suggestions about hikes, dining, and local conveniences. The place was clean and well equipped. And very quiet. We loved being on the quiet side of the island. And Nola's homemade blueberry muffins were excellent. Highly recommend staying here.

Laurie, WI, Jun 2017

Nola and Wayne's was the perfect place for us to explore Acadia. Quiet and peaceful but still close to great hikes and activities, their place was perfect for getting out for adventures but being able to get back quickly. Nola and her husband were warm and hospitable, making check-in go very smoothly and giving us great tips for exploring the island. We had a wonderful stay!

Thank you both for such a lovely stay in Acadia! Your place could not have been more perfect for us, and your hospitality was great (still thinking about those blueberry muffins... :) Laurie and Bret

Justine, NY, Jun 2017

Both Nola and her husband were incredibly helpful, courteous, responsive, thoughtful and kind from booking through check out. Everything was exactly as described and the blueberry muffins that were graciously provided were the best we've ever had. We most definitely will be back.

Jess, NY, May 2017

What a gem! The space was immaculate with every comfort you could need and more. The Jacuzzi tub was a nice bonus, bed was super comfortable and the coffee selection along with Nola's homemade muffins were a treat. I highly recommend staying here. Nola and her husband were lovely hosts!

Micah, NC, May 2017

Perfect location for our 3 days stay in Acadia! Comfortable bed and a fully furnished kitchen. There's a reason they call Southwest Harbor the Quiet Side. Nola and her husband were fantastic hosts, offering tips and details about the Island and the Park! Cafe Dry Dock for a fresh caught dinner was just around the corner.

Kaitlin, NY, May 2017

We had the best stay at the Treehouse! Nola and her husband were the best hosts--they were so kind and flexible with our arrival time (bad weather and tons of traffic) and were there to greet us. Thank you so much--we absolutely loved our stay at the treehouse, and we really enjoyed meeting you as well! Thank you for the muffins, too. They were such a treat after a long day of hiking 😊

Francesco, Germany, May 2017

We enjoyed our short stay very much. The place is as described. It was very clean and very cozy. Wayne and Nola were very welcoming and forthcoming. They offered any help one could wish for. You really couldn't wish for better Airbnb hosts! We even got home-backed blueberry muffins as a welcome. We would definitely come back here and would recommend it to anyone!

Ryan, NJ, May 2017

Nola and her husband are just as spectacular as their Quietside Treetop retreat. If there were a contest for the best place to stay on Mount Desert Island, this must be a front runner. A peaceful location that is able to easily access the main roads, both daily hikes and a sunrise on Cadillac were easily accomplished. They supplied us with everything we needed for preparing our Acadia adventures, including: tips, advice, maps, and amazing restaurant recommendations. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Janessa, CO, May 2017

We had such a lovely stay at Nola and Wayne's place and would definitely stay there again!

Jennifer, NY, May 2017

Nola and her husband greeted us as soon as we arrived. They did an incredible job creating a space of convenience and comfort for guests. They had toiletries in case we forgot any, saving us a trip into "town". We intentionally came in the off season to escape the day to day buzz of NYC. It was perfect having our coffee on the porch and being about 20-30 minutes from Bar Harbor, the Loop, and major hiking trails was great. This truly is the quietside of MDI. They had a list of local businesses we can check out based on what we were looking for and we were glad they listed Joey's on there. Perfect local spot with a little NYC/NJ flare to grab a drink at. About a 5-minute drive. Nola and her husband answered any questions we had and brought us over some lobster crackers from their home after picking up a fresh boiled lobster from Peekytoe Provisions. Coming out of season, a lot of businesses were closed - keep that in mind for any trips from November-Memorial Day Weekend time frame. We hope to return in the fall or springtime to get in some more hiking and tranquility. Side note: if you have Verizon, cell service is extremely limited on the Island.

Meredith, GA, Apr 2017

This is really great spot to stay while you're visiting Acadia. It's nicely tucked away from the tourist areas, but close enough that you can be practically anywhere in the park in almost no time. The space was very comfortable, quiet, and had everything that you needed. I would definitely stay there again and we really appreciated the warm hospitality from Nola and her husband. Oh, and the blueberry muffins were the best I've ever had! I'd love the recipe! Thanks for being a wonderful, kind, and generous host! We loved staying at your place. Thank your husband for showing us around and for all his great recommendations! We enjoyed the hike up to Fly Mountain - he recommended that!

Meredith, NY, Apr 2017

We had a fantastic time at Nola's place. The apartment had everything we needed after a day of hiking and exploring in the national park, and her husband gave us some great suggestions for good local restaurants. Nola was very responsive to all my emails and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. We can't wait to come back.

Asha, CT, Apr 2017

Wow! We were blown away by the hospitality of Nola and her husband. When we arrived, we found the house to be absolutely beautiful! The pictures don't do this perfectly-sized home justice. It is elegant, clean, and freshly remodeled. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking supplies as well! It felt perfectly secluded, with the back deck overlooking the woods behind the house - you can almost touch the trees from it! The house is a close drive from Acadia's beautiful sights and hiking trails. I would love to stay at Nola's house again. It was a perfect experience with more than kind hosts! We were amazed with the house and quality of hosting by you and your husband, thank you both! The pictures don't do your lovely place justice. :) Your house is beautiful! We enjoyed cooking so much in your house and grill. Thank you again for making us feel so welcome. The blueberry muffins were delicious!

Farzad, NY, Apr 2017

We met Nola and her husband upon arrival and they helped us settle in. They are both very friendly and accommodating and can help you out with just about anything. They recommended Sips Cafe for breakfast, which had great food. Their home was super quiet and peaceful and had all the appliances we needed. They even had three choices of coffee. The place was very clean and organized and we couldn't have asked for more, except for the blueberry muffin recipe, which was mouth-savoring delicious! We would definitely stay there again, and appreciate the kindness and care that was emanated from them both!! Thank you both for a great stay! Wish you the best!

Isabella, CA, Mar 2017

Absolutely wonderful. Nola and her husband were incredibly nice and very helpful. The apartment is beautiful with nice lighting and new amenities. We had a terrific time and are hoping to come again. I would definitely recommend staying here. You guys were incredible thank you so much for making our stay so pleasant. We hope to come back in the fall.

Michael, DC, Jan 2017

Nola and her husband were wonderful hosts who are happy to help, but very respectful of your privacy! The property is a perfect distance from Bar Harbor and the rest of the "Downeast" attractions. The apartment is perfect to come home to after a strenuous day exploring what Acadia has to offer. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing trip, this apartment is for you. We can't wait to come back! Thanks for being a wonderful host! We wish we could have stayed longer. We felt so relaxed and your home offered the perfect getaway from our busy schedules. We can't wait to come back!

Nicole, NJ, Nov 2016

We absolutely loved the Treetop Retreat! The apartment was beautiful, modern and private. It is also quite convenient for getting to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Nola made us delicious blueberry muffins and her husband was extremely helpful and positively lovely. All in all, we had nothing but a positive experience! Beautiful apartment, extremely friendly and helpful hosts

Robyn, Australia, Nov 2016

We enjoyed our stay at Treetop. It was a brilliant location, close to Acadia National Park and all amenities. It was definitely one of the best vacation rentals we have been to. The blueberry muffins were much appreciated while we were hiking in Acadia!!!

Brendan, CT, Nov 2016

Great hosts!

Chelsea, FL, Nov 2016

Nola's place was amazing to say the least. So cozy, soft comfy bed, and great amenities. Nola's blueberry muffins were super delicious. Both she and her husband are amazing caring people and helped us out with local hikes, places to eat, and things to do. We will definitely be returning to Acadia in the near future and I wouldn't think about staying anywhere other than Nola's place.

Crystal, NJ, Oct 2016

Nola and her husband were absolutely wonderful, and greeted us with a warm friendly smile. They gave us a brief tour of the place and Nola baked us some fresh, delicious muffins for our stay. The listing was very accurate and very clean. Lots of amenities in the bathroom and kitchen supplies. The place was very homey and private. The neighborhood was far enough from Bar Harbor to be on the quiet side and have beautiful hikes but close enough to Bar Harbor where a lot of great restaurants and bars are located. They gave us some local recommendations for hikes and places to eat and visit. If you visit here definitely check out Joey's pub, they have really awesome wings! Nola and her husband were super responsive and we're always available when we needed some tips or help with the area. They were great hosts and we will definitely be coming back and suggesting to friends!

Michael, NC, Oct 2016

The best part of our honeymoon was staying here at the Nola’s Treetop Retreat. Upon arrival, Nola and her husband greeted us with a welcoming smile, and a friendly tone of voice. Right away, I knew this was going to be a great stay. They took us up to where we were staying, showed us around the place, guided us through maps, points of interests, restaurant recommendations, and answered all the questions we had to make our time in Acadia National Park the best. To put the icing on the cake, they made our honeymoon even more special by leaving us a couple gifts to help celebrate which was super thoughtful and kind of them. Along with the gifts, they were hospitable in making us feel like we were staying at a five-star bed and breakfast, having freshly folded towels, a toiletry basket in case we forgot something, and an extremely clean, beautifully decorated, and warming environment for us to stay in. Throughout our stay, they were available to us to answer any questions to make our trip the best it can be. If you are traveling to Acadia National Park, I most definitely recommend staying here. You will not regret it. Thank you both for such a special time. From one hospitality professional to another, you over wowed me in your hospitality.

Brandon, MI, Oct 2016

We felt welcome from the second we got out of the car. Nola and her husband met us out front and we had a nice conversation. They explained everything we needed to know about the space (which was exceptionally clean and nicely decorated) and said don't hesitate to ask us for anything at any time. Nola even made us some fresh blueberry muffins!

Erin, IN, Oct 2016

We had a great stay at Treetop! The place is adorable, and was just a short drive (20-30 minutes) from all the Acadia attractions. Nola and her husband were great hosts. We had to switch our booking dates and they were very accommodating and easy to communicate with. And the blueberry muffins were delicious!

Jody, NY, Oct 2016

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved our stay at Treetop! What a gorgeous time of year to be among the leaves. Nola and her husband couldn't have been any lovelier or more generous. We really appreciated their input about the park (hikes, boats, etc.!) as well as all the personal touches they've made to the space, including maps, books, board games and perhaps a tasty treat (I won't ruin the surprise). We enjoyed post-hike use of the Jacuzzi tub and the bed was reeeeally comfy. (In fact, we just loved the sheets because I want to buy them for home). Thanks so much for everything!

Aubrey, MA, Oct 2016

We really enjoyed our stay at Nola's lovely apartment- it was beautiful, comfortable, and clean. We were in town for the MDI Marathon and the location was very convenient because it was close to the finish line! Nola and her husband were friendly and responsive, and we really appreciated the thoughtful touches like spare toiletries, restaurant recommendations, and homemade blueberry muffins! We will definitely try to stay here again the next time we come to MDI.

Jordan, NY, Oct 2016

It was our favorite vacation rental yet! Nola and her husband were incredible hosts. We were greeted upon arrival and escorted up to our space. There were fresh muffins, toiletries, coffee, tea, and maps of the park ready and available. The Jacuzzi was perfect after a long day of exploring Acadia. The hosts gave us their number and were very helpful and responsive with any inquiries we had! The space is very private and has its own outdoor entrance. The location is central to Acadia National Park and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. We could not have asked for a better experience on our 2nd anniversary trip! This is hands down the best place to stay if your visiting Acadia. We WILL be back! It was truly magical.

Dave, NC, Oct 2016

The apartment is extremely clean and beautifully built. The homemade muffins were a great touch too! Thanks!

Chris, MA, Oct 2016

My new wife and I spent three days at the Treetop Retreat as part of a mini-honeymoon, and Nola and her husband were such gracious hosts! They communicated with us on the way and didn't make us feel rushed. When we arrived, they clearly showed and explained to us everything involved with the space. They even left a bottle of Prosecco for us in celebration of our honeymoon! Nola also left homemade muffins for us, and they were delicious. The living space was cozy and had everything we needed, and it was wonderful getting a chance to explore the "quietside" of Mount Desert Island. This was easily one of our favorite vacation rental stays ever; we'd definitely recommend it to others and would love the chance to return someday!

Alex, PA, Oct 2016

What can I say, this apartment far surpassed our expectations! Highly recommended to anyone looking to enjoy Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island in general, without all the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. Nola and her husband greeted us upon our arrival with smiles upon their faces and helpful hints galore. They did their best to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Their home is located a few minutes outside of Southwest Harbor on a quiet, peaceful road. As for the apartment itself, it is accessed by a private entrance via a set of stairs off the side of the garage. Once inside, the fit and finish of the apartment is fantastic, the bed super comfortable, and the amenities are all you could need for a short or long stay. Using that as a home base, you can drive anywhere on the island you want and always have a place to call home. Again, I can’t recommend it more and I hope to be back soon!

Ann, AZ, Oct 2016

Everything about this experience was wonderful: the apartment, the hosts, all the maps and Advice we were given, etc. We would stay there again without hesitation.

Jill, IN, Oct 2016

Nola and her husband were patient with us as we arrived late due to unforeseen changes in our flight schedule. They gave us a tour of the apartment, all of its amenities and even left warm blueberry muffins! They were absolutely accommodating and helpful with local information. With a separate entrance (a newly constructed one at that!), we did not feel as though we were intruding upon them or vice versa. For our first vacation rental experience, this was truly outstanding. We would recommend it to anyone looking to have some quiet time, be in nature and relax. With generous and gracious hosts, it was like a home away from home - on the Quietside of Mt. Desert Island.

Griffin, DC, Sep 2016

We had such a great time on our trip to Acadia and the treetop retreat was absolutely perfect. Nola and her husband were extremely accommodating and provided us some local tips and maps. They can be involved as little or as much as you prefer. The quality of the apartment and furniture is great, honestly the pictures don't do it justice. Kitchen and bathroom have everything you would need or may have forgotten. We would stay here again in the future and highly recommend it to others. And yes, the muffins are that great!

Ira, CA, Sep 2016

Communications were excellent, the accommodations were excellent and I would gladly return in the future.

Roger, TN, Sep 2016

We certainly enjoyed our stay in this very clean, modern and cozy apt. Our hosts were the most hospitable people I have ever experienced on a vacation and were so helpful in educating us on Acadia (which is a beautiful place). The accommodations were extremely comfortable and were very accurately advertised. I cannot express enough how satisfied we were with our stay and how kindly we were treated during our stay. A special thanks to Nola for the blueberry muffins ...they were wonderful. Hope to return some day!!

My fiance and I had the pleasure of staying at the Quietside Treetop Retreat as a short vacation following our engagement last week. I can't say enough amazing things about Nola, her husband, and their beautiful apartment in Southwest Harbor! Anything from the warm greeting as soon as we pulled in the driveway, to the hiking and dining advice which allowed us to have an awesome trip for cheap! Some things I'd like to highlight are: how inviting (and clean!) the apartment was. It was so nice to get back from a day of hiking and relax with the warm lighting, wood floors and Jacuzzi tub. The sofa and bed were especially comfortable and the apartment was full of amenities, should you forget anything at home! Also, they were available at the drop of a hat during our stay. Specifically, we only had a loose schedule of what we wanted to do, but they helped us decide which hikes would be best for the time that we allowed. The apartment also had a ton of maps and amenities that helped with our day-hike schedule! I've already hinted at this, but I think the most important part of our stay was that they really made us feel like family friends. They were genuine in their kindness and really did a knockout job at making us feel welcome in their home. Will absolutely stay here again next time we come up to MDI!

Rebecca, CA, Sep 2016,

The quiet treetop retreat exceeded our expectations in every way. The apartment is very comfortable and includes a well-stocked kitchen if you decide to cook. The bed was new, the space felt very private, and we appreciated being able to use the Apple TV to watch a movie in the evening. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Dennis, CA, Sep 2016

We couldn't have asked for kinder hosts or a more pleasant stay at Nola’s Quietside Treetop retreat! Upon our arrival, they greeted us warmly and gave us the tour of their lovely and inviting apartment. The online photos are beautiful, but do not do the property justice--the private, spacious, and comfortable apartment is nestled in a tranquil, forested neighborhood. We truly enjoyed staying on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island. Nola and her husband have thoughtfully attended to every detail including Nola's delicious blueberry muffins. They (our hosts not the muffins) make themselves readily available and are a great source of information about the area. We wish we could have stayed longer and we would definitely return to this incredible retreat. We highly recommend this wonderful vacation rental property!

Nico, FL, Sep 2016

We had a lovely stay at the Quietside Treetop Retreat. Nola and her husband really made every effort possible to make our stay agreeable and make us feel welcome. I would like to mention for instance the fresh muffins cooked for us, the travel-size toiletries available in the bathroom if needed, the exhaustive maps and brochures given to us about the area, some nicely made memos about house rules or just the way every switch in the house is labelled so that it is easier to use. Communication with them was always very fast and efficient. Last and not least I want to mention that the place is VERY EXTREMELY CLEAN. Overall a very excellent and quiet (as described) stay. There are plenty of lovely trails, restaurants, shops, bakeries, just a few minutes from the house.

April, NC, Sep 2016

Great experience all around. Nola and her husband were very accommodating to our travel schedule. Blueberry muffins were a perfect treat for our hike through Acadia. We appreciated the bathroom amenities, since there were several things forgotten from home. We would definitely come back.

The Quietside Treetop Retreat is the perfect name for this place! Nola and her husband were great from the beginning - I was road tripping and not sure where I would be when, so I booked the apartment the morning of, and they were quick to respond and let me know they could accommodate me. From there I had consistent communication throughout the day to ensure they were there, when I showed up. Although it was late, they both greeted me with a smile and showed me around the place. This place was perfect and absolutely what I needed. It felt like home and the bath was exactly what I needed after my kayak adventure earlier on in the day. The place was incredibly clean and the bed was so comfortable - I slept like a baby! The next morning, I got to eat the fresh blueberry muffins Nola left for me (they are amazing - and kept me fed the remainder of the day on my travels down south). Her husband was available to help me to map out some stops in Acadia, before I left town and made sure I knew exactly where to hit and what I couldn't miss. Although it was a short stay for me, I couldn't have had a better experience. The thing that stood out the most to me was the hospitality of these hosts and the thoughtful approach they have in all the details throughout this apartment and the stay. This place was a blessing to me and I would stay again in a heartbeat!

Debby, NH, Sep 2016

We found this apartment to be just what we were looking for. It was quiet, private and off the beaten track. The kitchen was fully equipped and everything was super clean and brand-new. The bed was comfortable and we loved the woods right off the deck. The hostess left homemade blueberry muffins that were great. They provided helpful information on various restaurants and stores.

Brian, CA, Sep 2016

This was a getaway for my wife and I for a few days and we planned on exploring MDI by car, foot, etc. The location was central to MDI, close to Southwest Harbor, and very quiet so it worked great for us. Nola and her husband were great hosts and we really enjoyed them. It started with great communication from the time of booking, a great greeting and explanation when we arrived, willingness to help as needed (or leave us alone), and then there to see us off on the last day. I went back and read the description in their listing after staying there and it is extremely accurate. Thank you both!

A parting thought: It would be good to have known what the entry through the garage looked like (maybe a photo). It made me a bit concerned until we got inside the unit.

So, true, Brian! Likewise, I had my husband to build a set of outside stairs that not only afford a private entrance to the apartment, but also enhance the initial feeling that one has before entering it! We really appreciated your honest evaluation, which prompted us to act on an excellent idea.

Mindy, Cayman Islands, Sep 2016

This place is a beautiful apartment. I would happily rent it. The blueberry muffins and all the toiletries in the bathroom were an extra touch.

I loved the blueberry muffins, the hosts’ ability to let us stay last minute, that it was even better than the photos! It's a gorgeous apartment that I would happily live in, though it was a little out of our price range, since we were intending to camp.

Kristin, IL, Sep 2016

From the start, we were greeted with warm graciousness by our hosts, Nola and her husband. They welcomed us into a beautiful apartment, explaining all the light switches, locks, and various other accoutrements, before Nola unveiled a batch of freshly baked, delicious blueberry muffins she'd made for us. They gave us a list of personal recommendations of places to eat in the area that was tremendously helpful (cheesesteaks and wings at Joey's Place being a surprise favorite), and when we noted that we were interested in hiking the park they gave us detailed maps, descriptions, recommendations, etc. that led us to the breathtaking--literally at times-- summit of Mt Cadillac. This place is a 10/10 if you can book it. Thank you both!!! Aaron and Kristin

Carla, NJ, Sep 2016

Simply put, our experience here was phenomenal! I cannot recommend a stay here highly enough. The hosts went over and beyond to make us feel comfortable, welcomed, and even spent extra time during our arrival to thoroughly orient us to the space. They were both so sweet and gracious. Nola even made us wild blueberry muffins, and they were unbelievably delicious. The dwellings were incredible. Plenty of space, beautiful furnishings, clean, and private. Even our own private deck which felt like a personal treetop sanctuary. Being their guests was an absolute delight. My husband and I give our highest recommendation to stay at this place, and we even hope to be back!!!
